Digital Commerce
Question 1; History of ecommerce
Ecommerce is the act of buying products online or through an online shop. 10 years ago this was not an activity, a person had to actually go into a shop in order to buy something. Since the expansion and growth in popularity and use of the Internet ecommerce has become a large part of internet users time. The definition of ecommerce is as follows, "E-commerce is the buying and selling of goods and services,or transmitting of funds or data, over an electronic network" (Rouse,2015)
Ecommerce has become such a big thing in today's world as everything is so fast paced and moves quickly therefore people see and realize the convenience of buying and selling online as it to happens a lot quicker than the normal way or buying and selling goods. Often good sold online are also cheaper than would be found in a store as companies that only sell goods online do not have the large over heads of having to pay a large number of employees. Delivery of products is also a lot faster, many online stores have a "rush" option that with an added fee the products the shopper has bought will be delivered to their house within 24 hours of the transaction going through, which also appeals to consumers in the fast paced world that we live and work in.
Due to the effectiveness and speed of buying and selling online is why ecommerce has grown so rapidly among internet users and can only grow as the internet grows and more people become more active digital citizens.
Question 2: Importance of being informed
The importance of being informed is a crucial skill that one needs to learn in able to get through life effectively and aware what is going on around you. The definition of informed is: having or showing knowledge of a subject or situation.
One needs to be informed in order to make educated comments during everyday life, being informed means that one has critically looked and evaluated a situation or information in a critical manner in order to make a discussion about it.
A person cannot go through life and making choices and decisions without being informed on the situation as then the person is basically taking a shot in the dark without any knowledge of the situation or how their uninformed decisions will effect the final out come.
Digital Security (Children)
Computers and the use of technology is part of a persons everyday life activities whether it being used to gain access to a social media site, looking at the news online, getting an email or googling something it is part of peoples life now as technology is so highly integrated in the modern lifestyle. Children are often also able to easily access information and often have as many if not more daily use of these technologies as well as being the generation to grow up where technology is a part of their life unlike their parents who where already into their adult life before technology was readily available to anybody and everybody.
Due to the nature of technology and the Internet it has both it pros and cons but in the best with internet of a child in mind they need to be taught about the dangers of the Internet and social media sites as well as the positives that come with the responsible use of the Internet. These lines are often crossed as the internet is such an open and "anonymous" place meaning that alot of negative things are able to take place at easy without anybody knowing besides the people engaged in these acts.
Firstly i would like to start of with what the pros of the intrenet are as for all of the negatives that they are in my opinion the pros of the Internet far out way the cons. The first pro of the Internet is seen as a powerful learning tool is used in the correct way. There are vast amount of information at a persons fingertips when using the Internet, one no longer has to be sitting in a classroom to learn something from the thousands of educational websites, to the thousands of educational videos that can be found on YouTube are always for a person to take part in informal learning which is learning that does not take place within the classroom. This encourages the skill of life long learning which now with access to the Internet the person is able to always read up and investigate new topics and expand their knowledge where ever they are.
In my opinion this is why the Internet is such a Strong tool as with access to the Internet a person is able to educate themselves on almost any topic, this is why children should be taught at n early age the responsible and effective way to use the Internet correctly as it is only going to be a skill that will help them throughout their lives. This is why some countries have made access to the internet part of a person basic human rights. As a persons education is no longer limited to there current social or financial situation with access to the Internet and willingness to learn they have a vast ocean of information at their fingertips.
There always need to be a reverse side to the coin and just like a coin the Internet has another side which needs to be understood and taught to kids on the dangers of this "dark" side of the Internet in order to keep them safe and out of harms way.The cons that can come about without the knowledge and skills on how to practices safe Internet usage are: exposure to illicit information such as pornography which children are often to young to understand so should not be seen, unsafe use of online chat rooms (kids should not be using chatrooms as it is not safe), "Catfishing" a term that is given to the action of someone to pretend to be someone or who they are not often to trick minors into sexual acts online.
Below are two adverts by a company called Innocence in Danger and they make adverts in order to get people aware of the hidden dangers that are involved with using the Internet, that kids often fall prey to due to the lack of knowledge on safe use of the Internet. The first image shows a cellphone in a girls back pocket but the shape being made by the phone in the pocket is a hand making it look like a hand on the girls back side, this refers to sexual predators that are online and often target children to try and perform sexual acts with them, the fact that it is done on a phone or online makes it hard for parents to see that something like that is going on,that is why kids need to be taught how to use the internet safely and not talk to strangers (just like they are taught to do in real life the same needs to be done when it comes to the digital "world")
The second advert is by the same company with someone giving a thumbs up over his face and the captions saying "Do your children know who really likes their posts" this again refers to sexual predators as on a facebook profile or any profile made online the person is able to lie about all of their information there is nothing stopping them from lying, this is has also be termed as "cat fishing" that is why kids need to be careful online.
Some tips that one can teach their children about safe are responsible use of the internet are as follow;

Some tips that one can teach their children about safe are responsible use of the internet are as follow;
- Not everything that is seen and read online is true, one needs to critically evaluate the information and do more research before confirming that information is right or not as there is alot of information online that is written by other people whose facts many not necessarily be correct.
- What ever is posted or uploaded will be up there permanently even if the post is deleted that information is stored that is why it is important to not post things that one will regret or cause harm to yourself or others. This is what is know as having a positive digital footprint. By not having anything online that will negatively affect you as a person.
- DO NOT give away and sensitivity or private information to someone online. Information that should NEVER be given out to a stranger online are; address, bank account numbers, phone numbers or full name. Anything that allows that person to build up to much knowledge on you as a person.
- keep passwords secure and change them every so often to reduce the risk of someone getting onto your account.
- Parents should monitor and keep an eye on the child's internet use and what site he/she is visiting
These are just basic tips that if followed will not only help children but adults also on safe use of the internet.

Digital Communication
As can be seen in the PowerPoint pages bellow i have done a small little review of clash of clans and what features can be found on it as well as a simple and basic concept of what the game is about.
The game is an online strategy game that users play and interact with many other users from all around the world who are also playing clash of clans. The aim of the game is to build up an army as well as a strong defensive base in order to protect your resources from other players attacks as well as go out with your army an attack other players bases in order to get more resources. These resources are used to upgrade characters which make them stronger and evolve specialized skills that come in useful as well as to build and upgrade your base in order to make it stronger.
There is a community aspect to clash of clans as players join up to form a clan an battle against other clans over a common goal to be the winning team and receive a large amount of resources for winning. Clan is there also as a support network as clan members are able to send resources as well as troops to help another member out if their bases is being attacked by another player. clan members are bale to chat to one another using an online chat which allows users to either send direct private messages to a specific person or send broadcast messages on an online chat forum where players playing all over the world are able to interact and chat with one another while playing the game.
When ever there are open chat options available there will always be people who dont use it in the correct manner and may offend other players on the network, that is why clash of clans has a strict set of guide line. The basic set of rules would to be respectful to the other players and clan members. No abusive or racial comments shall be tolerated if it becomes a pattern a user can both be exempt from a clan as well as booted off the main servers for the game. Trolling (bullying within a game) will also not be tolerated as the person know as the "troll is only there to provoke a person in order to get a reaction out of them hence this is not tolerated as well as frowned upon within the electronic gaming community not only on mobile games but on all genre of gaming where online play with other users is an aspect to the game.
The community side of the game could be used to teach not only kids but adults of the importance of being a good digital citizen as it allows users to interact with other users on the game and if their online behavior is not up to standard and abusive or wrong in anyway they can and will be kicked off the servers not allowing them to play the game which is seen as a punishment to the user if they have invested time and effort into leveling up the characters and bases on the game.

Digital Literacy and Information Fluency (Digital Footprint)
Digital Footprint.
What is meant by Digital footprint? In simple terms a digital footprint is what you leave behind online from search results, online activity, websites visited as well as a host of many factors. Just like when walking on the beach a person leaves their foot print behind them and can still be seen once they have left, the concept is the same when it comes to a persons digital footprint. All of a persons online activity is achieved and stored as data online. This stored data is basically the footprint that is left behind. This data can be brought up for months even years that is why it is important to have a good digital foot print to your name. The internet is a permanent place so anything shared online gives others a collective snapshot of who you are as a person your values, morals as well as what kind of an interaction they could expect for you as a person.
When it comes to having a good digital footprint there is one main guideline that one should follow when it comes to posting on the internet. One needs to think is this image or post going to offend someone or how is this post going to be received by the reader of it. If its going to have a negative affect then there are high chances that it should not be posted online or to a social media account as it then tarnishes the posters digital footprint which stays with the user for life being digital stored online.
The advantages to a digital footprint is that it acts as an archive and a back up in the event that old information needs to be pulled up. An easy example of when a digital footprint comes into play is such as when using whatsapp where you are able to go back and read older messages within a conversation in order to get information that you need which was sent earlier such as a cellphone number or address.
The knowledge of knowing how to have a positive digital footprint that reflects well on the user as a person within society is as necessary as teaching someone any other life values such as being responsible or being truthful they are life skills that are needed in life.

Digital Literacy and Information Fluency
The task for this question was to look at an analysis the Animal Planet website that was created for the series Mermaids discovered which was a "documentary" that animal planet released on their channel. Firstly the purpose of the official website is to build attention and hype around the event which was the airing of the first part of the series as well as show viewers some short clips that will be seen within the film.
The response that the series got was both negative and positive both from the scientific community as well as that of the public who both had very different views for example; The National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration (NOAA) gave a statement of their official website saying that there as been no official evidence to back up the fact that aquatic humanoids (mermaids) have been found. Where as the public thought differently or at least were very curious about the stories that Animal Planet had a series out showing that mermaids have been discovered. Animal Planet had its highest viewer rates of the channel during the airing of the series with an average of 3.6 million viewers for the series. The last time Animal Planet reach such a higher viewer count was for the memorial of Steve Irwin which got 2.7 million viewers in September 2006. In my opinion the show got so many viewers because of the way that Animal Planet marketed the show by creating a whole separate section on their website with different clips and articles about mermaids and related topics which got people interested and curious about if it is all true or not which caused them to tune in a what the series, which in the end is what Animal Planet wanted was a high number of viewers for the show but which also gives the channel publicity which was their goal with the series.
In my opinion Animal Planet and their website did exactly what they intended for it to do and did it very well. The task of the site was to bring publicity to the series that animal planet would be showing. Which as stated earlier had a record number of viewers for the series in the channels history.
